Sequence a genome

Take DNA from extraction to reads you can analyse: the next-generation sequencing workflow.

  1. Isolate long, clean DNA, the starting material for everything after.

  2. Measure DNA amount and purity, because library prep is sensitive to both.

  3. Fragment the DNA and add the adapters and indexes the sequencer needs.

  4. Check library size and concentration, then pool samples evenly.

  5. Run the sequencer and judge the run from its quality metrics.

  6. Trim, align and call variants to turn reads into results.
